1875-1933 – Conche Y Toro dates back to 1875 when Don Melcher choncha y Toro, a Chilean lawyer got an estate in Maipo valley, within days drive by horse from his home in Santiago planted vines produced in Bordeaux France. Concha y Toro exported crates to Rotterdam docks in 1933. But exports were small until after World War Two. The Socialist regime of Salvador Allende seized many vineyards from their landowners. Late 1960s – From Hong Kong heroin was flown to Chile then smuggled into Paraguay. In the late 1960s heroin went from Paraguay then onto the US. From Hong Kong across the Pacific into Chile. 1974 – Ricardo Bolvaran from Santiago Chile age 42 has lived in Australia for 41 years. He arrived in Australia with his family when he was one year old. They fled the Pinochet regime in 1974.
